Cherbonnières is a French municipality with 338 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Poitou-Charentes ); it belongs to the arrondissement Saint-Jean-d'Angély and is part of the canton Matha (until 2015: canton Aulnay ). The inhabitants are called Cherbonnièrois .

Cherbonnières is located about 77 kilometers east-southeast of La Rochelle in the Saintonge . Cherbonnières is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Aulnay in the north, Villemorin in the north and northeast, Loiré-sur-Nie in the east, Gibourne in the south and southeast, Saint-Martin-de-Juillers in the south, and Saint-Pierre-de-Juillers in the southwest as well Paillé to the west and northwest.
