La Vergne is a French municipality with 585 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Poitou-Charentes ); it belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Jean-d'Angély and is part of the canton of Saint-Jean-d'Angély . The inhabitants are called Vergnauds .

La Vergne is located about 55 kilometers east-southeast of La Rochelle in the Saintonge . La Vergne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Essouvert in the north and east, Saint-Jean-d'Angély in the east and south-east, Ternant in the south, Voissay in the south-west, Torxé in the west and Landes in the north-west.
The A10 autoroute runs through the municipality .
