La Brousse is a French municipality with 509 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Poitou-Charentes ); it belongs to the arrondissement Saint-Jean-d'Angély and is part of the canton Matha . The inhabitants are called Broussiens .

La Brousse is located about 80 kilometers east-southeast of La Rochelle in the Saintonge . La Brousse is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Saint-Pierre-de-Juillers in the north and northwest, Saint-Martin-de-Juillers in the north, Gibourne in the northeast, Bagnizeau in the east, Blanzac-lès-Matha in the south and southeast, Aumagne in the west and southwest and Varaize to the west and northwest.
