The canton Montendre was 2015 a French canton in the department of Charente-Maritime and in the former region Poitou-Charentes . It included 15 parishes in the arrondissement of Jonzac ; its main town (French: chef-lieu ) was Montendre . The nationwide changes in the composition of the cantons resulted in its dissolution in March 2015.

The canton of Montendre was 14,490 hectares (144.90 km 2 ) and last had 6,796 inhabitants, which corresponded to a population density of 47 inhabitants per km 2 (as of 2012). It was on average at 85  m , between 23  m in Chamouillac and 125  m in Jussas .
