The Canton of Surgères is a French canton in the department of Charente-Maritime and in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It comprises 29 municipalities in the Rochefort arrondissement . As part of the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons, it was expanded in spring 2015.

The canton comprised twelve municipalities until 2015: Breuil-la-Réorte , Marsais , Péré , Puyravault , Saint-Georges-du-Bois , Saint-Germain-de-Marencennes , Saint-Mard , Saint-Pierre-d'Amilly , Saint- Saturnin-du-Bois , Surgères , Vandré and Vouhé . The main town was also Surgères. Its layout corresponded to an area of ​​231.66 km ² . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 1737.
