The District of La Rochelle-1 is a French canton in the department of Charente-Maritime and in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . In the Arrondissement of La Rochelle, it covers part of the city of La Rochelle . As part of the nationwide reorganization of the cantons in March 2015, its layout was enlarged so that the canton now has 26,522 inhabitants (as of 2017). With the reorganization, his INSEE code also changed from 1723 to 1714.
