The Canton of Saintes-Est was 2015 a French canton in the department of Charente-Maritime and in the former region Poitou-Charentes . Its main town ( chef-lieu ) was Saintes in the Arrondissement of Saintes . The nationwide changes in the composition of the cantons resulted in its dissolution in March 2015. The last representative in the conseil général des Départements was Jean-Yves Quéré ( PS ) for the years 2008–2015 .
