The Canton Tonnay-Charente is a French canton in the department of Charente-Maritime and in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It comprises 15 parishes in the Rochefort arrondissement . As part of the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons, it was expanded in spring 2015.

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of Tonnay-Charente included the eight communes of Cabariot , Genouillé , Lussant , Moragne , Muron , Saint-Coutant-le-Grand , Saint-Hippolyte and Tonnay-Charente . Its layout corresponded to an area of 179.88 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 1739.
