Loire-les-Marais is a French commune with a population of 393 (as at 1st January 2017) in the department of Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . Fouras belongs to the Arrondissement of Rochefort and the Canton of Tonnay-Charente (until 2015: Canton of Rochefort-Nord ). The inhabitants are called Loirains or Loiréins .
geography
Loire-les-Marais is about ten kilometers east of the Atlantic coast and about four kilometers north-northeast of Rochefort . Loire-les-Marais is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Ciré-d'Aunis in the north, Muron in the east and north-east, Tonnay-Charente in the south and south-east, Rochefort in the south-west and Breuil-Magné in the west.
