Champagne is a French municipality with 611 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . Champagne belongs to the Arrondissement of Rochefort and the Canton of Marennes (until 2015: Canton Saint-Agnant ). The inhabitants are called Champagnais .
geography
Champagne is about twelve kilometers south-southeast of Rochefort city center . Champagne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Agnant in the north and north-west, Trizay in the north and north-east, Sainte-Radegonde and Pont-l'Abbé-d'Arnoult in the east, Sainte-Gemme in the south and south-east, La Gripperie-Saint-Symphorien to the south and southwest and Saint-Jean-d'Angle to the west.
