Tonnay-Charente is a French municipality with 8010 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine .
geography
The small town lies on the north bank of the Charente River . Neighboring municipalities of Tonnay-Charente are Muron in the north, Genouillé in the northeast, Moragne and Lussant in the east, Cabariot in the southeast, Saint-Hippolyte in the south, Rochefort in the west and Loire-les-Marais in the northwest.
