The Arrondissement of Agen is an administrative district in the department of Lot-et-Garonne in the French region Nouvelle-Aquitaine .
history
On March 4, 1790, with the establishment of the Lot-et-Garonne department, a District d'Agen was also created , which in parts corresponded to the present-day arrondissement. On February 17, 1800, the arrondissement was founded from it.
On November 4, 1808, parts of the arrondissement (the cantons of Auvillar and Valence ) were added to the then newly founded department of Tarn-et-Garonne .
From September 10, 1926 to June 1, 1942, parts of the Arrondissement Nérac, which was dissolved during this period, belonged to the Arrondissement Agen.

geography
The arrondissement borders in the north with the arrondissement Villeneuve-sur-Lot , in the east with the arrondissement Castelsarrasin in the department Tarn-et-Garonne ( Occitania ), in the south with the arrondissement Condom in the department Gers , also in Occitania, and in the west with the Arrondissements of Nérac and Marmande .
