Sérignac-sur-Garonne ( Occitan : Serinhac de Garona ) is a commune with 1,172 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Lot-et-Garonne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Agen and the canton of L'Ouest Agenais (until 2015: canton of Laplume ). The inhabitants are called Sérignacais .
geography
Sérignac-sur-Garonne is about eleven kilometers west of Agen on the Garonne , which borders the municipality in the north, on the Canal de Garonne and in the Buzet wine-growing region . Sérignac-sur-Garonne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Hilaire-de-Lusignan in the north, Colayrac-Saint-Cirq in the east and northeast, Sainte-Colombe-en-Bruilhois in the east and southeast, Montagnac-sur-Auvignon in the south as well Montesquieu to the west.
The A 62 autoroute runs through the municipality .
history
Sérignac was founded as a bastide in 1273 by Gaston VII, the vice count of Béarn.
