Monbalen ( Occitan : Montvalent ) is a municipality with 421 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in France in the department of Lot-et-Garonne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). Monbalen belongs to the Arrondissement Agen and the canton Le Pays de Serres (until 2015: canton Laroque-Timbaut ). The inhabitants are called Monbalenois .

Monbalen is about 16 kilometers northeast of Agen . Monbalen is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Antoine-de-Ficalba in the north, Hautefage-la-Tour in the east and northeast, Cassignas in the east and southeast, Laroque-Timbaut in the south, La Croix-Blanche in the west and southwest and Castella in the west .
