The Arrondissement of Libourne is an administrative district in the French department of Gironde in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It consists of 9 cantons and 129 communes . The main town (seat of the sub-prefecture ) is Libourne .
history
On March 4, 1790, with the establishment of the Gironde department, a District de Libourne was also founded, which largely corresponded to today's arrondissement. On February 17, 1800, the arrondissement was founded from it.
geography
The arrondissement borders in the north on the arrondissement Jonzac in the department Charente-Maritime , in the east on the arrondissements Périgueux and Bergerac in the department Dordogne , in the south on the arrondissement Langon , in the west on the arrondissement Bordeaux and in the north-west on the arrondissement Blaye .
