Kufstein center

The Kufsteiner Zentrum (city center) is a district of the Austrian municipality of Kufstein and is located relatively in the middle. The center is the economic, social and also cultural center. The district can be divided into

The old town emerged, typically for the Middle Ages, also in Kufstein at the foot of the castle around a market square. Only when the city grew, the areas around it were opened up more and more, mostly according to the urban development plan developed for Kufstein by Otto Lasne . Later the Obere Stadtplatz and the Marktgasse were built, where the great city walls previously lay (in principle comparable to the development of the Ringstrasse in Vienna ). This created an ever-growing, densely built-up area. In the 1990s, important inner-city buildings such as the “Arkadenplatz”, the new Stadtwerke building, the university of applied sciences , the “City Park” and the city park were added. For a few years now, the city ​​center has been expanded further east, as there is still a lot of free space here.

One of the main attractions of Kufstein was the Inn shipping. It led from Kufstein via Kiefersfelden, Ebbs and Niederndorf to Oberaudorf, an extension of the route to Rosenheim was planned until 2009. On December 9, 2011, the Inn shipping was discontinued. The Kufstein Fortress in the middle of the center is particularly interesting to explore . Otherwise there are various small monuments, some Art Nouveau buildings and a Kneipp facility, a swimming pool and other sports facilities in the city center.
