The Stadtberg is a foothill of the Wilder Kaiser , between Kufstein , Schwoich and Scheffau in the Lower Inn Valley , and is Kufstein's local mountain . It also forms a village in the municipality in the Kufstein district .
The entire Stadtberg belongs to the Kaisergebirge nature reserve .

Location and landscape

The Stadtberg lies east of the city on the Inn. It is connected to the Brentenjoch ( 1204  m ) with the Gamskogel ( 1449  m ) in the northeast, and together with the southwestern Winterkopf ( 1226  m ) it forms an upstream, mid-mountain ridge on the Kaiser Mountains. It is bordered in the west by the Inn, in the north by the Kaisertal , in the south by the Weißache , and in the east by the Gaisbach . It continues with the Wöhrer Köpfl ( 782  m , Kufsteiner Wald ) on the Inn.

The Kufsteiner districts of Obere Sparchen , Kienbichl and Mitterndorf (upstream) are located directly at its foot .

The Kufstein district of Stadtberg

The Stadtberg has been part of the city of Kufstein since time immemorial and is also managed as a village . This includes the scattered houses Stadtberg , the single location Vorderdux , the Berggasthof Hinterdux ( 760  m ), the Alpine inns Duxer Alm ( 905  m ), Aschenbrennerhaus ( 1128  m ), Weinbergerhaus ( 1300  m , formerly Brentenjochhütte ), and the Brentenjochalm .

Development and alpinism

You can reach the Stadtberg with the Kaiserlift (Wilder-Kaiser- Chairlift ) from the Obere Sparchen district to the Brentenjoch (valley station 505  m ). Ascent on foot from Mitterndorf ( Madersperger monument, via Waldkapelle and Duxeralm or Aschenbrenner) or center / Obere Sparchen (via Vorderdux - Hinterdux - Duxeralm) on the roads / paths, as well as via Lochererkapelle - Wilder Kaiser Steig - Rehersteig - Steinbergalm ( Kaindlhütte 1293  m ). An ascent from Hintersteiner See ( 883  m ) via the Steinbergalm is also possible. The routes are also suitable for mountain bikes.

One of the main climbs leads to the Wilder Kaiser via the Stadtberghäuser, via Bettlersteig - Straßwalchhütte , on this route there is also a good panoramic mountain, the Gamskogel ( 1449  m ). You can also cross to the Steinbergalm and choose the Widauersteig route over the Scheffauer ( 2111  m ). Paths also lead - from the Bettlersteig - into the Kaisertal to the Anton-Karg-Haus ( 829  m , Kaisertour ) and - over the Scheffauer - to Scheffau.

The paths are also groomed as winter hiking trails , the Stadtberg is also an avalanche-proof touring area and - with the lift - a popular toboggan run .
