Louis Scott ( Henry Louis Scott ; born November 16, 1889 or 1891 in Paterson , New Jersey ; † unknown) was an American long-distance runner .

In 1911 he became the US road running champion over 10 miles , and on May 26, 1912, he set a US record over 5000 meters in Celtic Park in New York City with 15: 06.4 minutes .

At the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912 , he was seventh over 5000 meters and gave up over 10,000 meters . Even in the team race over 3000 meters he did not reach the finish line, but was awarded a gold medal like the other members of the victorious US team. In the cross-country race he finished 24th in the individual ranking. Since only two US athletes finished the race, the US team was not rated.
