David Munson (born May 19, 1884 in Medina , New York , † September 17, 1953 in Antwerp ) was an American athlete .

At the 1904 Olympic Games in St. Louis , Munson, who was competing for the New York Athletic Club , won the gold medal in the team run over four miles. On the same day he was fourth in the 1500 meter run . He also took part in the obstacle course , but his result is not known. In 1904 and 1905 he won the American college championships in the mile race . In 1905 he set a world record over 1.5 miles in Madison Square Garden .

Munson studied at Cornell University and New York Law School . After graduating in 1909, he worked as a lawyer in New York , Rochester and Chicago .
