Archie Robertson
Archie Robertson (actually Arthur James Robertson ; born April 19, 1879 in Harthill , South Yorkshire , † April 18, 1957 in Peterborough ) was a British long-distance runner .
In 1908 he won the English championship in cross-country running and the cross of nations . At the Olympic Games in London , he won the silver medal in the obstacle course over 3200 meters and was fifth in the 5-mile run. In the 3-Mile Team Run, he finished second and won the gold medal for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland team with Joe Deakin and William Coales , who finished first and third, respectively .
Archie Robertson started for the Birchfield Harriers. Before and after his athletics career , like his brother David , he was active as a cyclist.
