Howard Valentine (born December 14, 1881 in Brooklyn , † June 25, 1932 in New York City ) was an American athlete .
At the 1904 Olympic Games in St. Louis , Valentine, who was competing for the New York Athletic Club , won the gold medal in the 4-mile team run. On the same day, he finished seventh in the 1,500 meter run . A few days earlier he had won the silver medal in the 800 meter run behind James Lightbody .
Valentine was the 880 yard champion of the Amateur Athletic Union in 1903 and 1904 . He also took part in the Olympic Intermediate Games in Athens in 1906 , but retired in both the 400-meter run and the 800-meter run in qualification.
