Pierre Georget
Pierre Georget (born August 9, 1917 in Châtellerault , † August 1, 1964 in Paris ) was a French track cyclist .
1936 was the most successful year in the cycling career of Pierre Georget: At the UCI track world championships in 1936 in Zurich he was runner-up in the professional sprint , behind the Dutchman Arie van Vliet . At the Olympic Games in Berlin he won two medals, the silver one in the 1000-meter time trial (again behind van Vliet) and a bronze one in the tandem race , together with Georges Maton . The French duo lost in the semifinals to the later gold medal winners from Germany, Ernst Ihbe and Carl Lorenz . The following year, Georget was runner-up in the sprint world championship for the second time in Ordrup near Copenhagen , behind the Dutchman Jef van de Vijver .
Pierre Georget came from a successful cycling family: he was the son of Léon Georget and the nephew of Émile Georget .
