Abzac is a French commune in the Gironde department in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It lies on the Isle and its tributary, the Palais . Abzac is a member of the Communauté de communes du Pays de Coutras.

The residents call themselves Abzacais or Abzacaises .

history

In the 16th century, a former local manorial power was provided by the Marshal of Saint-André . In the 18th century the pastorate of the parish was named a "small bishopric ".

In 1962 there were 1452 inhabitants; it is currently 1937 (as of January 1, 2017).
