Tarnès is located about 23 kilometers northeast of Bordeaux and about eleven kilometers northwest of Libourne . Tarnès is surrounded by the neighboring communities of La Lande-de-Fronsac in the north and west, Vérac in the north and northeast, Villegouge in the east, Lugon-et-l'Île-du-Carnay in the south and southeast and Cadillac-en-Fronsadais in the southwest .
