Tarnès is a southwestern French community with 325 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Gironde department in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Libourne and the canton Le Libournais-Fronsadais (until 2015: Canton Fronsac ).

Tarnès is located about 23 kilometers northeast of Bordeaux and about eleven kilometers northwest of Libourne . Tarnès is surrounded by the neighboring communities of La Lande-de-Fronsac in the north and west, Vérac in the north and northeast, Villegouge in the east, Lugon-et-l'Île-du-Carnay in the south and southeast and Cadillac-en-Fronsadais in the southwest .
