In the 19th century the community always had between 600 and 800 inhabitants. The phylloxera crisis and the increasing mechanization of agriculture led to a continuous decline in the number of inhabitants in the first half of the 20th century to the lows of the last decades.

For a long time, the wines produced here were mainly exported to England via the ports on the Gironde ; since 1936 the municipality belongs to the appellation Saint-Émilion (AOC) . Tourism also plays a certain role in the economic life of the municipality in the form of renting out holiday homes ( gîtes ).
history
The Romans brought the art of viticulture to the south-west of Gaul. The Romanesque church documents the existence of the place as early as the Middle Ages.
