Saint-Romain-la-Virvée ( Occitan : Sent novel ) is a southwestern French community with 873 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Gironde in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Libourne and the canton Le Libournais-Fronsadais (until 2015: Canton Fronsac ).

Saint-Romain-la-Virvée is located about 20 kilometers northeast of Bordeaux and about 13 kilometers west-northwest of Libourne on the Dordogne , which borders the municipality in the southeast and southwest. Saint-Romain-la-Virvée is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-André-de-Cubzac in the north and north-west, La Lande-de-Fronsac in the north, Cadillac-en-Fronsadais in the east, Lugon-et-l'Île-du -Carnay in the southeast, Saint-Loubès and Asques in the south and Cubzac-les-Ponts in the west.
