Saint-Avit-Saint-Nazaire is a French commune with 1,469 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Gironde in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality is located in the Arrondissement of Libourne and in the canton of Le Réolais et Les Bastides (until 2015: Canton of Sainte-Foy-la-Grande ). The inhabitants are called Saint-Avirois .

geography

Saint-Avit-Saint-Nazaire is the easternmost commune in the Gironde department. It is located about 17 kilometers west of Bergerac on the Dordogne River , which borders the municipality in the north, in the Sainte-Foy-Bordeaux wine-growing region . Saint-Avit-Saint-Nazaire is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Le Fleix in the north, Saint-Pierre-d'Eyraud in the east and northeast, Gardonne in the east and southeast, Razac-de-Saussignac in the south, and Saint-Philippe-du-Seignal in the south and south-west, Pineuilh in the west and south-west and Port-Sainte-Foy-et-Ponchapt in the west.
