Pomerol ( Occitan Pomirau ) is a southwestern French community with 607 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Gironde in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016 Aquitaine ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Libourne and the canton of Le Libournais-Fronsadais (until 2015 Libourne ). The inhabitants are called Pomerolais .

location

Pomerol is located about 30 kilometers east-northeast of Bordeaux in the wine-growing region of the same name . Pomerol is surrounded by the neighboring communities Lalande-de-Pomerol in the north and north-west, Néac in the north and north-east, Saint-Émilion in the east and south-east and Libourne in the south and west. The former route nationale 89 (today's D1089) runs through the municipality .
