The Arrondissement Périgueux is an administrative district in the Dordogne department in the French region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine .
history
On March 4, 1790, with the establishment of the Dordogne department, a District de Périgueux was also founded, which was, however, somewhat smaller than the current arrondissement. On February 17, 1800, the arrondissement was founded from it, expanded to include the Excideuil and Mussidan districts. On September 10, 1926 it was expanded to include the dissolved Arrondissement Riberac.

The arrondissement borders in the north on the arrondissement Nontron , in the east on the arrondissement Brive-la-Gaillarde in the department Corrèze ( Limousin ), in the southeast on the arrondissement Sarlat-la-Canéda , in the south on the arrondissement Bergerac , in the west on the arrondissements Libourne in the Gironde department and Jonzac in the Charente-Maritime department and in the northwest to the Angoulême department in the Charente department .

Reorganization of the arrondissements in 2017
As a result of the reorganization of the arrondissements in 2017, the arrondissement Bergerac became the area of the 21 municipalities of Beauregard-et-Bassac , Beleymas , Campsegret , Clermont-de-Beauregard , Douville , Église-Neuve-d'Issac , Issac , Laveyssière , Les Lèches , Maurens , Montagnac-la-Crempse , Moulin-Neuf , Paunat , Saint-Georges-de-Montclard , Saint-Hilaire-d'Estissac , Saint-Jean-d'Estissac , Saint-Jean-d'Eyraud , Saint-Julien -de-Crempse , Saint-Martin-des-Combes , Val de Louyre et Caudeau and Villamblard are assigned to the Arrondissement of Périgueux.
Instead , the area of the 28 municipalities of Anlhiac , Biras , Bourdeilles , Brantôme en Périgord , Brouchaud , Bussac , Cherveix-Cubas , Clermont-d'Excideuil , Coulaures , Cubjac-Auvézère-Val d'Ans , Excideuil , Eyvirat changed from the Arrondissement of Périgueux , Génis , Mayac , Négrondes , Preyssac-d'Excideuil , Saint-Front-d'Alemps , Saint-Germain-des-Prés , Saint-Jory-las-Bloux , Saint-Martial-d'Albarède , Saint-Médard-d 'Excideuil , Saint-Mesmin , Saint-Pantaly-d'Excideuil , Saint-Raphaël , Saint-Vincent-sur-l'Isle , Salagnac , Sencenac-Puy-de-Fourches and Valeuil to the Arrondissement of Nontron and the area of the 22 communes of Ajat , Azerat , Badefols-d'Ans , Bars , Boisseuilh , Chourgnac , Coubjours , Fossemagne , Gabillou , Granges-d'Ans , Hautefort , La Chapelle-Saint-Jean , Limeyrat , Montagnac-d'Auberoche , Nailhac , Sainte-Eulalie- d'Ans , Sainte-Orse , Sainte-Trie , Teillots , Temple-Laguyon , Thenon and Tourtoirac to the Sarlat-la-Canéda arrondissement .
