Château-l'Évêque ( Occitan : Lo Chasteu ) is a French municipality with 2170 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Dordogne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . Administratively it belongs to the Arrondissement of Périgueux and is part of the canton of Trélissac (until 2015: canton of Périgueux-Nord-Est ). The inhabitants are called Castélevéquois .
geography
Château-l'Évêque is located about seven kilometers north of Périgueux on the Beauronne River . Château-l'Évêque is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Brantôme en Périgord in the north, Agonac in the east and northeast, Champcevinel in the east and southeast, Périgueux in the south, Chancelade in the south and southwest, La Chapelle-Gonaguet in the west and southwest and Biras in the northwest .

history
Here are the remains of a Roman road. The place is mentioned for the first time under the name Preyssac around 1169. By 1793 the name was changed to Preyssac Dagonat , 1803 to Preyssac d'Agonac . The community has had its current name since 1831.
