The continuous population decline since the second half of the 19th century is mainly due to the phylloxera crisis in viticulture and the increasing mechanization of agriculture as well as the associated loss of jobs.
economy
The place and its surroundings were dominated by agriculture for centuries; Most of the people lived on the produce of their fields and gardens as self-sufficient ; livestock and viticulture were also practiced. Craftsmen, small traders and service providers of all kinds have settled in the village. Since the 1960s tourism has played a not insignificant role in the economic life of the municipality in the form of renting out holiday homes ( gîtes ) .
history
As the Romanesque church suggests, the place was settled in high medieval times; perhaps during the Hundred Years War (1337–1453) or afterwards the nave of the church was raised and fortified.
Attractions
The parish church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativité comes from the 12th century; It can be assumed that the side buttresses and the four-storey crossing tower with its bell storey open on all sides are original. Clearly recognizable, however, is the extension of the nave to an escape room with a double window in the west. In the interior of the apse there are half-columns as wall templates; the nave , on the other hand, only has blind arcades on pillars . Church construction has been recognized as a monument historique since 1926 .
