Sanilhac ( Occitan identical) is a French municipality with 4548 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the north of the department Dordogne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Nontron and to the cantons of Isle-Manoire and Périgord Central (until 2015: canton of Saint-Pierre-de-Chignac ). The inhabitants are called Sanilhacois .
Sanilhac was formed as Commune nouvelle on January 1, 2017 from the previously independent municipalities of Breuilh , Marsaneix and Notre-Dame-de-Sanilhac .

Sanilhac is about seven kilometers south of Périgueux . Sanilhac is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Périgueux in the north, Boulazac and Atur in the north and northeast, Saint-Laurent-sur-Manoire in the northeast, Sainte-Marie-de-Chignac in the east, Lacropte in the east and southeast, Salon in the south and southeast, Vergt in the south and south-west, Église-Neuve-de-Vergt and Chalagnac in the west, Coursac in the west and north-west and Coulouneix-Chamiers in the north-west.
