Saint-Paul-Lizonne is a French municipality with 273 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Dordogne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Périgueux and the canton of Ribérac (until 2015: canton Distriblac ).
The name in the Occitan language is Sent Pau de Lisona and is derived from St. Paul .
The inhabitants are called Saint-Paul-Lizonnois and Saint-Paul-Lizonnoises .
geography
Saint-Paul-Lizonne is located about 40 km northwest of Périgueux in the Ribéracois area of the historic province of Périgord on the western border with the neighboring Charente department .

Saint-Paul-Lizonne is located in the catchment area of the Dordogne river .
The Lizonne , a tributary of the Dronne, forms the natural border with the neighboring municipality of Saint-Séverin in the neighboring department. Its tributaries cross the territory of the municipality,
- the Cendronne,
- the Sauvanie and
- the Canal de la Pude.
The municipality received the “A Flower” award from the Conseil national des Villes et Villes Fleuris (CNVVF) as part of the annual competition for cities and towns decorated with flowers.
Population development
After records began, the population rose to a peak of around 895 in the middle of the 19th century. In the period that followed, the size of the community decreased with short recovery periods, a trend that continues to this day.

Personalities
Marie Marcelle Jane Poupelet, born on April 19, 1874 in Clauzure, a hamlet of Saint-Paul-Lizonne, died on October 17, 1932 in Talence ( Gironde department ), was a French sculptor . She was buried in Saint-Paul-Lizonne.
