Saint-Maime-de-Péreyrol (locally and Saint-Mayme-de-Péreyrol ) is a French municipality with 283 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Dordogne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Périgueux and the canton of Périgord Central (until 2015: canton of Vergt ).

The name in the Occitan language is Sent Maime de Perairòus and is derived from Saint Maximus. The addition "Péreyrol" means "rolling stone" and indicates the stony ground of the municipality.

The inhabitants are called Saint-Maymois and Saint-Maymoises .

Saint-Maime-de-Péreyrol is located about 20 km south-southwest of Périgueux and about 25 km northeast of Bergerac in the Périgord Central area in the historic province of Périgord on the border with the Landais and Bergeracois areas .

Population development

After records began, the population rose to a peak of around 660 in the mid-19th century.
