Saint-Georges-de-Montclard (locally and Saint-Georges-de-Montclar ) is a French municipality with 291 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Dordogne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Périgueux (until 2016: Bergerac ) and the canton of Périgord Central (until 2015: Canton of Villamblard ).

The name in the Occitan language is Sent Jòrgi de Montclar and is derived from St. George . The Occitan word montclar means "mountain from which one can see clearly".

The inhabitants are called Montclardais and Montclardaises .

geography

Saint-Georges-de-Montclard is located about 30 km south-southwest of Périgueux and about 15 km northwest of Bergerac in its catchment area ( Aire urbaine ) in the historic province of Périgord .

The community has two town centers a few kilometers apart, Saint-Georges with the parish church and Montclard with the town hall ( Mairie ) and the castle.
