The Vern is a river in France that runs in the Dordogne department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region . It rises in the municipal area of Veyrines-de-Vergt , generally drains in a north-westerly direction and flows into the Isle after 40 kilometers in the municipality of Neuvic as a left tributary . West of Vergt , at Pont Romieux , the Vern disappears into the karst subsoil and reappears in several karst springs that are spread over a distance of up to 14 kilometers.
