The Bridal Veil Falls State Scenic Viewpoint is a state park in Multnomah County in the US state of Oregon . The 6-hectare park is located on the Historic Columbia River Highway , about two kilometers to the east are Shepperd's Dell State Park and Rooster Rock State Park . The park is crossed by the Bridal Veil Creek , which comes from Larch Mountain and tumbles over sharp basalt steps in the two-tier Bridal Veil Falls in two 30 and 9 m high falls.
Although the trees in the area of today's park were cleared from 1886, they are now densely forested again. Below the falls, a sawmill was in operation from 1910 to 1930, the foundations of which are still visible. The park area was acquired by the state between 1970 and 1984.
Use of the park is free of charge, the park has picnic areas and sanitary facilities. Two hiking trails lead through the park. The upper path takes visitors through lush vegetation to a fenced-in slope above the Columbia River Gorge . There are information boards along the way, from the way there is a panoramic view of the gorge and the 36 m high basalt tower called the pillars of Hercules . The lower path leads to the base of the falls. The waterfalls can also be viewed from a viewing platform that was renovated in 1996.
