The Lez is a river in southern France that runs in the Ariège department in the Occitanie region .

The Lez rises under the name Ruisseau de Tartereau on the north side of the Pyrenees , east of the Pic de Tartereau , in the municipality of Sentein . It generally flows in a north-easterly direction, crosses the Pyrénées Ariégeoises Regional Nature Park and flows into the Salat as a left tributary after about 36 km in the local area of Saint-Girons .
