The district class East Prussia was a second-rate soccer league in the Sportgau East Prussia during the National Socialist era . It served as the substructure of the Gauliga East Prussia , existed from 1933 to 1944 and was played in several groups ( districts ). The winners of the districts then played the two promoted players to the first-class Gauliga East Prussia in a promotion round. From 1940 the district class 1st class was called Pomerania .
history
After through the DC circuit -related resolution of the Baltic Sports Federation (BSV) 1933, the teams were classified I Prussia of Prussia in the Sportgau. The clubs that were best placed in the BSV leagues in the 1932/33 season were given a starting place in the first-class Gauliga East Prussia, while the remaining clubs were placed in the lower leagues.
The East Prussia district class started in 1933/34 with four leagues (Königsberg, Gumbinnen, Allenstein, Danzig-Marienwerder). On June 30, 1935, at a meeting of the football district leaders, it was decided to introduce a changed game system in the East Prussia-Danzig district. The game operation now took place first in the four existing district classes, with the Gauligists from the previous season also now playing in the district classes. The two best teams per district class then qualified for the actual Gauliga, which was held in two groups of four teams each. This system was carried out for three seasons, with each year having to be qualified for the Gauliga by a front placement in the district class. Not until the 1938/39 season was a fixed Gauliga installed again, and the district classes were increased to six.
With the beginning of the Second World War, gaming operations initially stalled. The leagues were reorganized, the district class was henceforth called 1st class and was played in six districts, whereby the Danzig clubs were classified in the newly founded Sportgau Danzig-West Prussia . There was another new division for the 1942/43 season, 53 circles were formed, which were combined into eight district groups. Due to the war, 1st class was disbanded after the 1943/44 season. All teams still able to play in the Gau were divided into different sports district groups.
