The Reichsbahn SG Königsberg was a German sports club from the East Prussian city of the same name , today's Kaliningrad , the capital of the Kaliningrad Oblast .

history

The club was founded in 1927 under the name Reichsbahn Turn- und Sportverein Königsberg as a works club of the Deutsche Reichsbahn . In 1939 the name was changed to Reichsbahn SG Königsberg . For the 1939/40 season he was promoted to the Gauliga East Prussia , one of the 16 top divisions in the German Empire at the time. The original league had to be canceled after a few game days this season due to the war. The Reichsfachschaft official soccer selected four clubs that played off this year Gaumeisterschaft in a smaller group. Reichsbahn SG Königsberg was not taken into account. The 1940/41 season was then played again in a group of ten, which the Reichsbahn SG Königsberg finished with fifth place. In the next three seasons, the club was able to hold itself in the midfield of the Gauliga, the best placement was third place in the 1942/43 season . Nevertheless, Reichsbahn Königsberg could not prevail against its strong local rivals VfB Königsberg and SV Prussia-Samland Königsberg . Due to the war, a season was no longer started in the 1944/45 season.

After the Second World War, Königsberg , which was part of the German Empire, was annexed by the Soviet Union . The Reichsbahn SG Königsberg was - like all other German associations and institutions - forcibly dissolved.
