The SC Preußen Insterburg was a German sports club in the East Prussian town of Insterburg , today Chernyachovsk. The football department played three seasons in the then first-class Gauliga East Prussia .

history

The club was founded in 1907 as FC Preußen Insterburg , in 1909 it was renamed SC Preußen Insterburg .

Soccer

The soccer department played within the Baltic Lawn and Winter Sports Association (BRWV). 1910/11 could Prussia Insterburg the District League III Gumbinnen / Insterburg win and thus qualified for the Baltic football finals. In this Insterburg was eliminated in the quarter-finals, the game taking place on March 12, 1911, the team lost against the future Baltic football champions SC Lituania Tilsit with 2:12. In 1911/12 the events were repeated, as district winners of Gumbinnen / Insterburg Prussia Insterburg failed again in the quarter-finals of the Baltic football finals to Lituania Tilsit , this time the game was lost 6-0. In the coming seasons, the club had to admit defeat to its local rivals SV Insterburg and FC Preußen Gumbinnen .

With the restructuring of the BRWV's league system, the District League III Insterburg was now part of District I East Prussia , so the district champion did not qualify directly for the Baltic football finals, but first played the East Prussian football final round with the other district champions from East Prussia. In 1921/22 the district league could be won for the third time, in the East Prussian final round Insterburg failed again to Lituania Tilsit . Due to the fourth place in the table in the 1925/26 season, Prussia Insterburg missed the leap into the top East Prussian league, which was newly introduced for the coming season, and from then on played second class. As early as 1926/27, the first place in the now second-rate district league Insterbug-Gumbinnen was achieved, which entitled to qualify for the district cup. In this tournament, the participant in the promotion round to the East Prussian League 1928/29 was determined. Prussia Insterburg prevailed in the district cup, and the relegation round was also survived unbeaten, so that the club played first-class again in the 1928/29 season. However, the top East Prussian league was a size too big for Insterburg, with 0 points the club immediately went back to the second division. In 1929/30 the club won the second-class Staffelliga Ost , since the East Prussian district was expanded to three leagues for the coming season, this meant the return to the first class. In the first-class Division League North came Prussia Insterburg addition, no more than the lower midfield.

Due to the descent after the 1932/33 season , Prussia Insterburg was not considered for the Gauliga East Prussia , which was newly introduced in 1933 , but was classified in the second-rate district class II Gumbinnen . Due to the expansion of the Gauliga East Prussia in the 1935/36 season from 14 to 28 teams, Insterburg made the leap into this. As early as 1936/37 the club was relegated to the district class. For the Gauliga season 1941/42 the promotion succeeded again, but due to the war, the club withdrew from the Gauliga during this season. Another game operation is not recorded.

After the Second World War , the former German town of Insterburg was annexed by the Soviet Union and was named Chernyakhovsk in 1946 . Like all other German clubs and institutions, the club was forcibly dissolved.

Schlokat won a gold medal in the javelin throw at the German athletics championships in 1928 . He also took part in the 1928 Olympic Games .
