The Baltic football championship 1928/29 of the Baltic Sports Association won the VfB Königsberg in the playoff against the Szczecin FC Titania with 9: 1st This was the tenth win of the Baltic football championship for the Königsbergers, who thereby qualified for the German football championship 1928/29 . There, the Königsberg team was eliminated in the round of 16 after a narrow 1: 2 defeat against Breslauer SC 08 . Titania Stettin was also qualified as the Baltic runner-up for the German soccer championship, but the Stettiners also just failed in the second round. Tennis Borussia Berlin only prevailed against the Stettiner 3-2 in extra time.

Mode and overview

The clubs in the Baltic lawn and winter sports federation were divided into the 1928/29 season again in three areas, but these were now districts known and not, as in previous circuits . Instead, the former sub-areas called districts now bore the name Kreise . The district champions and the runner-ups from East Prussia and Pomerania qualified for the final round of the Baltic football championship. The district of Vorpommern-Rügen changed from the North German Football Association to the BSV at its own request and was incorporated into the Pomerania district.

District II Gdansk

The games played in the Gdansk district this season are characterized by numerous association decisions. A game round originally started in the spring of 1928 was canceled after numerous weather-related game cancellations and rescheduled due to a changed class division. The rescheduled game round was first canceled again in April 1928, but then started and finally canceled again in the summer of 1928. At the end of May 1928 a new division was made, the number of participants in the top division was greatly reduced. The association games then began in August 1928. After the end of the game round there were numerous protests, which is why there were some repeated games, which were, however, canceled again afterwards. The game Danziger SC against SV Schutzpolizei Danzig serves as an example . The original game ended 3-0 for Danziger SC , but the sports club used a player who was not eligible to play, so the association scheduled a replay. On December 8, 1928, the association revised its decision and left everything as it was. At the beginning of April 1929 the replay between the two clubs took place, which Danziger SC had won 2-1. Thereupon the association left the original result and canceled the evaluation of the replay.

For the coming season, the Gdansk district was renamed Grenzmark District, henceforth Gdansk was a district within the Grenzmark district.
