The ball game and skating Club Gdansk (short BuEV Danzig ) was a football club from the present-day Poland situated Danzig .

history

The club was founded on April 18, 1903 as the Danzig football club . On February 9, 1905, the name was changed to the Ball Game and Ice Skating Club after the club's range of sports had expanded significantly. In 1908 they stood in the first-ever final for the championship of the Baltic Association, but lost 0:11 to VfB Königsberg . After two further defeats in the final (again in 1909 against Königsberg (0: 1) and in 1910 against Prussia Samland Königsberg (1: 2)) they won the Baltic championship for the only time in 1912 and were the first Danzig team to participate in the German championship finals in the first round on the Berlin TuFC Viktoria 89 and clearly lost with 0: 7. In the following year the BuEV was Baltic runner-up, the final was again lost this time against Prussia Samland with 1: 7.

In the following years, the club, renamed VfL Danzig in 1916, reached the final round of the Baltic championship in 1920 and 1926, without being able to repeat the great triumph. In 1930 it was renamed BuEV Danzig . At the end of the 1932/33 season, the club was again in the Baltic finals. From the 1933/34 season, the BuEV played in the initially two-track Gauliga East Prussia , which was four-track from 1935 to 1938. In 1935/36 the club was in the finals of East Prussia, but was eliminated in the group stage. For this he reached the main round of the Tschammer Cup for the first time , but was eliminated in the first game with 2: 3 n. V. against Hertha BSC from Berlin. 1937/38 they were again just before reaching the final round of the German championship when they achieved 16 wins and two draws in 18 games up to the final. In the final, however, the team was defeated by Yorck Boyen Insterburg (0: 2, 1: 1) and thus missed the final. From 1938/39 the BuEV belonged to the single-track Gauliga East Prussia. The club recorded one last success in 1940 when they reached the round of 16 in the Tschammer Cup where they lost 5-1 to VfB Königsberg. One of the players at this time was Heinz Brauer . The club remained in the Gauliga until the end , and from 1941 it belonged to the newly created single-track Gauliga Danzig-West Prussia . After Russian forces conquered Danzig in March 1945, the association was dissolved.

Venues
