Heinz Brauer (soccer player)

Heinz Brauer (born March 9, 1921 in Danzig ; † 2004 ) was a German football player and coach . He achieved particular importance as a long-time youth coach and promoter and discoverer of later famous football players.

Life

Brauer has been playing soccer since he was five . In 1939 he was trained once by Sepp Herberger . In his youth, Brauer joined the Gdansk Ball Game and Ice Skating Club (BuEV Danzig) . The club played in the Gauliga Danzig-West Prussia , which belonged to the highest German division and was there in 1940/41 fifth out of six teams, and in 1941/42 third out of ten teams. Brewer learned the trade of bricklayer . From 1941 to 1945 Brauer was a soldier in the Wehrmacht , first in Stettin and then in France . From December 1941 to 1943 he was in Russiaused. He was wounded in Danzig. He was shot through in the forearm and thigh.

Brauer was a guest player at Preussen Magdeburg from 1943 to 1945 . After the end of the Second World War he played for the Sportfreunde Sudenburg from 1945 to 1947 , at least in 1947 he was also a striker in the Magdeburg city team. In 1946 he also began to work as a trainer. In 1947 he married his wife from Ochtmersleben . From 1947 to 1949 he played and trained Traktor Ochtmersleben . He was in Erkenschwick for three months in 1948 , but returned to Ochtmersleben. From 1949 he was active at Stahl Magdeburg and later at Motor Mitte Magdeburg . In the 1950/51 season he and his team were national soccer champions for Saxony-Anhalt . He then played at times with Stahl Magdeburg and Motor Mitte Magdeburg in the GDR league.

From 1953 Brauer was also groundskeeper in the Heinrich Germer Stadium . From July 7 to August 7, 1954, Brauer completed a training course for trainers . Since the 1950s he has been coaching youth football teams in Magdeburg and has become one of the most famous youth coaches in the region. In 1961 he won the silver medal at the Spartakiade with the youth selection of the Magdeburg district .

He then had to move with the entire youth football department from Motor Mitte Magdeburg to SC Aufbau Magdeburg and 1. FC Magdeburg , where he ultimately remained active from 1964 to 1974. From 1975 he was again active at Motor Mitte Magdeburg , MSV 90 and Preussen Magdeburg . Axel Tyll , Detlef Schößler , Dirk Heyne , Reiner Wiedemann , Frank Cebulla and Mark Mewes are among the best-known talents he has trained in his 55-year coaching career . In 1991 his position as groundskeeper was canceled, but he continued to perform his duties as a coach.
