The Baltic football championship 1931/32 of the Baltic Sports Association won the SV Hindenburg Allenstein in the final tournament with a points ahead of Viktoria Stolp and VfB Königsberg . This was the first win of the Baltic football championship for the Allensteiners, who thereby qualified for the German football championship 1931/32 . There they were eliminated in the round of 16 after a significant 6-0 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt . Viktoria Stolp was also allowed to take part in the German soccer championship as the Baltic runner-up, but they too were eliminated in the round of 16. In Berlin, Stolp lost against Tennis Borussia Berlin with 0: 3.

Mode and overview

The clubs in the Baltic Sports Association were again divided into the two districts of East Prussia and Grenzmark in the 1931/32 season . In these districts there were again several regional leagues, the winners qualified for the district finals. The district champions and vice-champions of both districts then qualified for the Baltic finals, in which the Baltic football champions were determined.

District I East Prussia

In East Prussia there were again three departmental leagues, Königsberg, North and South, whose winners were qualified for the final round of the East Prussian championship. In addition, the runners-up in the individual district classes qualified for a round of elimination in which the fourth participant in the East Prussian championship was determined.

Relegation round:

In the relegation round, the last two clubs of the division league met the winners of the district leagues. Both first division teams prevailed and thus remained in the division league.

Division League II North

The departmental league II North was first played in a single round this season. The three best teams then played against each other in a final round of the first , the last three teams also played in a final round of the last . The SpVgg Memel took as the Memel 1923 Lithuania has fallen, both at Association play in East Prussia, and in Lithuania in part. Despite Lituanisierungsversuche and difficulties due to high passport and visa fees Spielvereinigung tried nevertheless continue to participate in the association playing the BSV. Finally, at the beginning of 1931, the Lithuanian Football Association, citing the FIFA statutes, demanded that all championships should only be held within the Lithuanian borders , and in the summer of that year banned all SpVgg teams from playing for one year because the club refused to voluntarily to resign from the Baltic Sports Association. In the course of this disqualification, the club was no longer able to take part in the finals in East Prussia, despite the first place. For the coming season, the club was then completely removed from the round games by the Baltic Sports Association.

Relegation round

In the relegation round, the last placed of the division league North met the winners of the district classes. The place vacated by the disqualification of SpVgg Memel was played in a deciding game between the second and third placed in the relegation round.

Final round of the East Prussian championship

Round of the second

The round originally held in August 1931, which SV Insterburg won, was declared invalid. With the disqualification of SpVgg Memel from the division league II North, SV Insterburg automatically moved into the finals in East Prussia. As a participant from the Division League II North, the Tilsiter SC qualified and the second round was held again between August and November 1931.

District II Grenzmark

The Grenzmark district was again divided into the five regional leagues West Prussia, Danzig, Stolp, Köslin and Schneidemühl. The five winners of these leagues and the runner-up in Danzig qualified for the Grenzmark finals.

Final round of the Baltic football championship

The final round of the Baltic football championship, for which the winners and runners-up of the two districts were qualified, was held in the 1931/32 season in a round-robin tournament. In the relatively even final round Allenstein was able to prevail with seven points. It is noteworthy that, as in the previous year, the East Prussian runner-up won the final round, although still defeated in the East Prussian final round. For Allenstein this was the first championship title. SV Viktoria Stolp was runner-up in a playoff against VfB Königsberg . Both teams were tied on points in the round-robin tournament. Thus, for the first time since the 1919/20 season, no Königsberg club took part in the German football championship.
