The RSV Braunsberg was a German sports club from the East Prussian town of Braunsberg (today Braniewo ). The football department played one season in the first-class Gauliga East Prussia .

history

After the club was founded in 1919, the RSV Braunsberg played in the league system of the Baltic Lawn and Winter Sports Association . 1922/23 is a game operation in the first-class District League VI East Prussia West handed down, but the club only took part in the spring round. In 1924/25 the club played in the third-class 2nd class district I Königsberg sub-district Zinten . In 1925/26 the RSV Braunsberg was classified in the second class 1st class District VI East Prussia West , due to restructuring in the league system this division was in third class from 1926/27. Due to renewed restructuring, the football area, now known as District VI East Prussia West , moved from District I to District II, and RSV Braunsberg was reorganized into the second-class District League I Königsberg of District I for the 1929/30 season . In this district league, the club was able to secure victory in 1930/31 with four points ahead, but in the relegation round Braunsberg failed due to the two participants from the first division and thus missed promotion to the top division. In 1931/32 the RSV Braunsberg was again allowed to participate in the relegation round to the Königsberg departmental league in 1932/33 , again the club failed at the Königsberg clubs. Due to the third place in the table in the Königsberg group A district league in 1933, the RSV Braunsberg was classified as part of the establishment of the Sportgaue instead of the soccer associations in the second-class district class I Königsberg within the East Prussian soccer district.

Due to the expansion of the Gauliga East Prussia from 14 to 28 teams for the 1935/36 season , the RSV Braunsberg managed to qualify for this top division. With five points from twelve games, the club ended the season, one point behind the Königsberger STV , as the last place in the Königsberg district and should have been relegated again. However, the club stopped playing after this season.
