Mossknowe House

Mossknowe House is a manor house near the Scottish village of Kirkpatrick-Fleming in the Council Area Dumfries and Galloway . In 1971 the building was included in the Scottish monument lists, initially in category B. The upgrade to the highest monument category A took place in 1987.

The building is isolated between the A74 (M) in the north and Kirtle Water in the south, around one kilometer southeast of Kirkpatrick-Fleming. It was built in 1767 to a design by the architect William Craik . Mossknowe House is a medium-sized one to two story mansion designed in the Palladian style. The two-story, gable middle section is three axes wide. The entrance area with frieze and architrave is located on the north side, while an opening emerges from the garden-side south facade . The windows are crowned with cornices and the gable surfaces are designed as triangular gables. One-story wings with flat roofs go off on both sides . They close with surrounding balustrades . The adjacent parts of the building close with hip roofs .
