Eyvirat (1793 still with the spelling Eyvirac ) is a former French commune of 289 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Dordogne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (2015 Aquitaine ). The community belonged to the Arrondissement Nontron and the community association Dronne et Belle . The residents call themselves Eyviracois .

geography

Eyvirat is located in the Périgord Blanc , about 16 kilometers north of Périgueux . Eyvirat is surrounded by the neighboring towns of La Chapelle-Faucher in the north, Saint-Front-d'Alemps in the east, Agonac in the south, Sencenac-Puy-de-Fourches in the west and Btantôme in the north-west.

history

The decree of November 6, 2018, with effect from January 1, 2019, incorporated Eyvirat as a Commune déléguée together with the former municipalities of Brantôme en Périgord , Cantillac , La Gonterie-Boulouneix , Saint-Crépin-de-Richemont , Sencenac-Puy- de-Fourches and Valeuil for the new Commune nouvelle Brantôme en Périgord .

Economy and Infrastructure

21 farms are located in Eyvirat (grain cultivation, breeding of horses, cattle, sheep and goats, pig farming).

The D74 trunk road from Brantôme-en-Périgord to Sorges et Ligueux en Périgord runs through Eyvirat . 20 kilometers south near Périgueux there are connections to the A 89 autoroute from Bordeaux to Lyon . The four and a half kilometers from Eyvirat remote station in Sgonac located on the railway line Limoges -Périgueux ( Ligne de Limoges-Bénédictins à Perigueux ).
