De danske årsmøder i Sydslesvig (in German : The Danish annual meeting in southern Schleswig ) is a festival weekend held annually in May or June of the Danish ethnic group living in southern Schleswig . The Årsmøder consist of several events with music, demonstrations, debates, readings and ceremonial speeches throughout the country, as well as three larger open-air closing events in Flensburg , Schleswig and North Friesland . The organizer is the Sydslesvigsk Forening with its individual local associations. In 2016, around 16,000 people attended the annual meeting.

The first Årsmøde in southern Schleswig took place in 1921 after the plebiscite about Schleswig's national connection on the Blasberg (Danish Blæsbjerg ) in Flensburg. The festival was based on the folk meetings organized by the writer Steen Steensen Blicher around 1840 on the Himmelbjerg ( Himmelberg festivals ) and Skamlingsbanken ( Skamlingsbank festivals ). In terms of content, Årsmøder should strengthen their own cultural identity and emphasize the connection with Denmark and the rest of the Nordic countries . Every year an Årsmøde poster is designed that translates a certain topic textually and visually. Greetings are exchanged with the Danish royal family every year . The Danish Minister of State also sends greetings on Danmarks Radio . Representatives of the Danish government, the Folketing , the Nordic Council , the Schleswig-Holstein state government , the state parliament as well as representatives of the municipalities and socially relevant associations take part in the meeting. In 2018, the Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen and the Prime Minister of Schleswig-Holstein Daniel Günther appeared as speakers. Various institutions such as the Danish Boy Scouts , the Danish Church and Flensborg Avis also present themselves at the open-air events . The library is also usually present with a book bus .

In Flensburg, at the end of Årsmøder, there is an annual move from Nordermarkt ( Nørretorv ) via Toosbüystraße to the DGF sports facilities on Marienhölzung ( Frueskovens Idrætspark ), where a larger open-air event with cultural performances and speeches by prominent guests from Denmark and Germany takes place. Traditionally, the participating orchestras of the FDF walk from the Nordertor to the Südermarkt through the old town of Flensburg . On the west coast and in the city of Schleswig there will also be parades on the same day. In Schleswig this led in 2017 from Slesvighus am Lollfuß to the Danish grammar school on freedom.
