The Danish Church in South Schleswig ( Danish Dansk Kirke i Sydslesvig ) is the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Danish ethnic group living in the Schleswig region and based in Flensburg .

It is linked to the Danish People's Church through the Danish Church Abroad . Unlike this, it is composed as a synodal church .

The Danish Church in southern Schleswig consists of 30 congregations with around 6,300 members, who are looked after by 24 pastors . The annual Kirchentag (Kirkedag) is the decision- making meeting . The chairman is the incumbent provost in Flensburg. As a free church , the church in southern Schleswig has the legal form of a registered association.

The main church is the Church of the Holy Spirit (Helligåndskirke) in Flensburg . Services in Danish have been held here since 1588. It was previously a branch church of the town church of St. Mary until it was officially handed over to the Danish Church in 1997. In addition to the Heiliggeistkirche, other churches and parish halls were built in the second half of the 20th century. Smaller parishes often use a church room in the local Danish schools. The agendas and the hymn book of the Danish national church are used in church services. In 1995 a group of pastors also published a German-Danish hymn book. In 2015 a revised new edition of the hymn book was published.
